Interesting plans of Madrid!
Combine a stroll through the picturesque central neighborhood and admire the works of contemporary artists, directly created on the facades of buildings. A great plan for this week and for spring in general!
For the eleventh time, the CALLE festival returns to the Spanish capital. This project gives street artists the opportunity to showcase their creativity directly on buildings, on the windows of cafes and shops. And it brings contemporary art closer to viewers and even ordinary passers-by, introducing them to the talents living in Madrid. This year, 52 teams of creators are painting Lavapiés with their ideas. By the way, participants have motivation, they compete for money. The main prize is 2000 euros and there are also awards and the audience sympathy prize.
The festival will last from April 8 to May 5. Check out what it looked like last year.
Unfortunately, there is no detailed and convenient map/route of the artworks (or I didn’t find it), BUT!
- There is a list of buildings/showcases/windows that the municipality has made available to the artists. They are here.
- There are guided tours at a symbolic price – 5 euros. Tours will be held from April 18 to May 4. You can reserve your spot here.
For the next 10 days, meteorologists promise warm and sunny weather, a perfect time to admire the works of the participants in the CALLE24 street art festival.
