What could be better than spending the evening in the atmosphere of live music and pleasant company? Let’s take a look at some places where you can enjoy jazz and much more without spending a penny.
Where in Madrid can you listen to jazz and much more for free?
There’s something called Jazz Jam session. This is when jazz bars/clubs on weekdays offer free concerts for audiences with their residents or musicians who want to perform in front of the public.
Firstly, we love to add some color to weekday evenings. Secondly, all the artists were of a good standard. It was nice to listen to them, sing along, and dance a little. Thirdly, it was free, and who doesn’t like something for free… Fourthly, there was always a very friendly atmosphere.
So here’s the Jazz Jam session in Madrid:
MOE Club – (Av. de Alberto de Alcocer, 32, Chamartín, 28036 Madrid). An authentic rock/jazz club with a 20-year history. Every Tuesday from 22:00 to 01:00 – Blues Jam session; Every Wednesday from 22:00 to 01:00 – Jam session; Every Sunday from 22:00 to 01:00 – La Otra Jam (all music styles).
Calvario bar – (C. del Calvario, 16, Centro, 28012 Madrid). A small bar with a stage in the city center. Every Monday and Thursday there is an open microphone from 20:30 to 23:00. Mainly pop, soul, flamenco musicians, there’s also jazz.
Sala Barco – (C. del Barco, 34, Centro, 28004 Madrid) Regularly, but without a fixed schedule, LALLAMA jam SESSIONS takes place from 22:00 to 00:00. Subscribe to their Instagram not to miss the next sessions. Also, there’s a hip-hop jazz session (yes, that’s right) every month from 22:00 to 00:00. The next party is on April 28th. The entry is almost free: 5 euros (includes beer) or 9 euros (with a soft drink).
Intruso Bar – (C. de Augusto Figueroa, 3, Centro, 28004 Madrid). Every Monday from 23:30 until closing there’s a Blues Jam session. Every Tuesday from 23:00 until closing there’s a jazz, soul, funk jam session. Every Wednesday from 23:30 until closing there’s a rock-soul jam session. Every Thursday from 23:45 until closing there’s a jazz and R&B jam session.
Yes, by the way, admission is free at all venues, but it’s advisable to order something to drink, of course. Usually, prices are quite normal, not excessive.
