- Templo de Debod
You probably know this place, as it is one of the most famous gardens in Madrid. The Temple of Debod is one of the best for picnicking at sunset, when the lawn is filled with young and not-so-young people, street music plays in the park, and the golden light reflects off the Almudena Cathedral and other iconic buildings of Madrid. Very romantic. All this is adorned with an authentic Egyptian temple. It was donated to Spain by the authorities of Egypt in 1968 as a thank you for the help, and, of course, the Spaniards did not refuse such a gift.
- Cerro del Tío Pío
Also known as the Park of the Seven Breasts. Yes, those female breasts. The point is that from afar, the elevations of the park resemble, you know what. In general, Spaniards are not so prone to sexualization…🤪 Cerro del Tío Pío is one of the favorite places for both locals and tourists to watch the sunset. This hill is formed by seven peaks, where people gather to chat, snack, and enjoy a spectacular view of the Cuatro Torres, Torres Kio, and the Pirulí.
4. Parque de San Isidro
A green park with lakes, fountains, and a palm garden. A perfect place to enjoy a picnic surrounded by nature.
5. Parque Lineal del Manzanares
A green park with picturesque views, which features a hill with a terrace and one of Madrid’s most curious sculptures, as well as a beautiful amphitheater. The sculpture is the head of Ariadne, the Lady of the Manzanares, crowning the 35 hectares of this park. In addition to picnics, this park is ideal for cycling.
6. Parque Juan Carlos I
This is one of the best parks for strolling. Juan Carlos I Park has beautiful meadows, lakes, fountains, and sculptures. The park has a large area of greenery. And this is exactly what you need to enjoy the fresh air, nature, and good weather. Also, in the park, there is a free miniature train that runs throughout the park.
7. Casa de Campo
The Casa de Campo, one of Madrid’s most iconic parks, cannot be left out of the list. So you don’t have to go through it all, I recommend two places for picnicking: near the Mirador de las 6 Panorámicas, where there is an excellent view and a lot of tranquility, or near the lake, where you can enjoy the sunset colors reflected in the water. The lake was created in the 16th century and has an area of 8 hectares.
8. Parque de El Retiro
And, of course, El Retiro cannot be missing from this list of the best parks for picnicking. The shade of its centuries-old trees, its rose gardens, and its sculptures create the perfect landscape for a pleasant sunny day. A perfect place for a picnic is here. There are fewer people and a very pleasant atmosphere. But overall, keep in mind that in El Retiro on a warm weekend day, there may be too many people.
